<image:caption>The Palestinian call for cultural boycott asks artists, cultural organizations, and art lovers around the world to recognize Israeli cultural institutions’ complicity with Israeli apartheid, to refrain from participating in cultural events in Israel, and to boycott events sponsored by the Israeli government, Israel lobby groups, and complicit Israeli institutions. Artists around the world, including Elvis Costello, Gil Scott-Heron, Lauryn Hill, Cat Power, and Lorde are heeding the call and canceling events. And thousands of artists and cultural workers, including Chuck D., Massive Attack, Arundhati Roy, Angela Davis, Mira Nair, and Mike Leigh, have endorsed the cultural boycott.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Boycott Brand Israel - Boycott Brand Israel</image:title>
<image:caption>In 2005, the Israeli government launched a “Brand Israel” public relations initiative to use cultural production to distract from Israel’s systematic violations of Palestinian rights. As Dani Dayan, a leader of Israel’s right-wing settlers and then–Consul General of Israel in NY, put it, “I see [culture] as an integral part of our effort here.” We call on cultural institutions to decline Israeli government sponsorship for events and to refrain from hosting Israeli “cultural ambassadors.” We invite artists and art-lovers to boycott “Brand Israel” events.</image:caption>

<image:title>Boycott Brand Israel - the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra</image:title>
<image:caption>A self-proclaimed cultural ambassador, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) proudly states on its website that it “represent[s] the State of Israel across the world.” American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra calls the IPO “the preeminent cultural ambassador for the State of Israel” and notes that “the goodwill created by these tours…is of enormous value to the State of Israel.” During the Nakba, the forced expulsion of 750,000 Palestinians from their homes, the IPO, then called the Palestine Orchestra, toured Palestine and performed to raise the morale of the Zionist militias. The IPO remains closely intertwined with Israel’s militarism today, providing free concert tickets to Israeli soldiers and running a program that brings Israeli soldiers who are musicians to practice music with children.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Boycott Brand Israel - PEN America</image:title>
<image:caption>In 2016, over 200 writers, including Susan Abulhawa, Eileen Myles, Michael Ondaatje, Claudia Rankine, Viet Thanh Nguyen, and Jacqueline Woodson, joined us in calling on PEN’s World Voices Festival to end its partnership with the Israeli government. The next year, the Israeli government was not among the festival’s sponsors. In 2024, we partnered with Writers Against the War on Gaza and the Palestine Festival of Literature for Freedom to Write for Palestine. This sold-out event at NYC’s Judson Church featured writers who withdrew from PEN America’s annual World Voices Festival and literary awards in protest of its historic failure to stand with Palestinian writers being killed and displaced en masse in Gaza – a withdrawal so massive that PEN America canceled both the festival and awards ceremony. This powerful evening of solidarity raised over $8,000 for We Are Not Numbers to continue providing the world with direct access to narratives from Palestinians in Gaza.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Boycott Brand Israel - Batsheva Dance Company</image:title>
<image:caption>According to Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Batsheva is “perhaps the best known global ambassador of Israeli culture.” In 2025, we joined with Dancers for Palestine and Theater Workers for a Ceasefire to call on Brooklyn Academy of Music to refuse to program cultural ambassadors for genocide. Pictured here is our protest of Batsheva’s Young Ensemble at Joyce Theatre as part of Dance Fest Israel 70, sponsored by the Israeli government as a celebration of the state’s founding, and held as Israeli snipers were suppressing the Great March of Return in Gaza. Here we honored the many Palestinian protesters killed with a moment of silence.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Amplify Palestine hosted a series of workshops on dabke as a form of cultural preservation and resistance with members of the premiere dance group in Palestine, El-Funoun. Established in 1979 by a small group of artists, El-Funoun today comprises close to 300 volunteer members. The Troupe is committed to dance education, running its own dance school and youth troupe, Barem El-Funoun, in Palestine and conducting dabke training in Palestine and around the world. Through its work, El-Funoun aims to challenge oppression and resist Israel’s attempts at cultural erasure. El-Funoun refuses conditional funding from international aid agencies and aid from organizations that have failed to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Donate to help El-Funoun continue their legacy of cultural resistance and groundbreaking art.</image:caption>

<image:title>Rise Up BDS Mixtape Volume 2 EPK - About the album</image:title>
<image:caption>Rise Up: BDS Mixtape Volume 2 presents sixteen tracks from artists that proudly support Palestinian liberation. Spanning musical styles from across the globe and often blending genres including hip-hop, jazz, and rock, the contributions capture the creative connections, joyous energy, and meditative reflection that fuel freedom struggles. Rise Up is the second volume in Amplify Palestine’s BDS Mixtape series, which, inspired by the 1985 Sun City album by artists boycotting apartheid South Africa, brings together musicians who support boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) as a tactic to pressure Israel to respect Palestinian human rights. Mixtape proceeds support cultural initiatives in Palestine. Rise Up is co-produced by db, Nick Cooper, Shalva Wise, and Sonny Singh. Cover art by Elias Rischmawi.</image:caption>
