AMPLIFY PALESTINE

BDS Mixtape

A celebration of our movement’s creativity and critical mass, the BDS Mixtape series presents cross-genre compilations from musicians who proudly support Palestinian liberation and call on other artists of conscience to join them in amplifying the Palestinian BDS call.*

Artists United Against Apartheid Sun City album cover, yellow and black barbed wire stretched across a red sun

A red sun is set against a black backdrop with yellow and black barbed wire crossing through its center and the words “ARTISTS UNITED AGAINST APARTHEID” in yellow beneath it.

Taking inspiration from the 1985 Sun City album by artists boycotting apartheid South Africa, and building on deep foundations of Palestine solidarity across the music world (see below), BDS Mixtape aims to

  • Inspire people to actively join BDS and work for Palestinian freedom.

  • Strengthen and celebrate our collective power to shift culture.

  • Support music education and creation in Palestine.

Three-by-three grid of old cassette tapes. Together the labels say "Boycott. Divest. Sanction. Amplify Palestine. Palestine will be free. Music with liberation made with love from Turtle Island to Palestine."

Initiated by grassroots groups Adalah-NY and BDS Houston, BDS Mixtape is collaboratively produced by a team of musicians, cultural workers, educators, and grassroots organizers.

Compilations are available for download and streaming on all platforms. Proceeds will support cultural initiatives in Palestine.

As support for Palestine and decolonize movements across the globe surges, anti-Palestinian gatekeepers are losing their power to censor or scare artists away from expressions of solidarity.

Collectively we’re making BDS the new baseline.

* Palestinians have called on people of conscience to use boycott, divestment, and sanctions to pressure Israel to end its occupation and colonization of Palestinian lands, recognize the right of Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality, and respect the right of Palestinian refugees to return home.
